Sol Campbell says racism may force him out of England to be a manager..
Sol Campbell, the former England and Arsenal defender, believes he will have to move abroad to fulfil his ambitions of becoming a coach due to racial prejudices that exist in this country, describing attitudes to black footballers here as "archaic".
Campbell, who won 73 caps for his country, two Premier League titles with Arsenal and at his prime was recognised as being among the finest central defenders in the world, is currently working towards gaining the qualifications required to become a coach or manager across Europe having retired following a 19-year playing career in May 2012. From start to finish, the process is likely to take three years and Campbell believes that upon completion he will have to leave Britain to begin his new career.
"I want to start abroad," said the 39-year-old in an exclusive interview with the Guardian. "There are no opportunities for me here, not until attitudes change anyway. Everyone has to ask themselves why there are not more black managers in this country and why the likes of [former Sheffield United striker] Brian Deane have to go abroad [to Sarpsborg 08 in Norway] to get a chance. I've spoken to other black players who want to coach and they feel the same, that attitudes here are archaic. I hope and pray the environment changes."
Premier League: Manchester United manager David Moyes seeks response..
Manchester United manager David Moyes has promised there will be a response from his players in the wake of last weekend's 4-1 derby defeat to Manchester City.
United defeated rivals Liverpool in the Capital One Cup in midweek to boost confidence in the camp and Moyes is keen for his side to put in another good performance against West Brom at Old Trafford on Saturday.
"The players showed they were hurt. We'll try to give the fans something to shout about again," he said.
"We made seven or eight changes (against Liverpool). We made sure everybody at Man Utd was able to show what they can do."
Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas claims Chelsea clash is not pivotal in title race
Andre Villas-Boas insists the result of Tottenham's meeting with Chelsea will have little bearing on the race for the top four this season.
Villas-Boas and Jose Mourinho will lock horns for the first time on Saturday when Chelsea visit White Hart Lane in the Premier League.
Spurs have made an excellent start to their season, registering eight wins out of nine games despite the sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid.
The clash with Villas-Boas' former mentor provides Tottenham with the opportunity to prove that they can cut it with the best this year, but the Spurs boss insists little can be judged from the outcome of the match.
"This game won't have any significant impact," the Tottenham manager said. "It's normally in the games against the other teams that can affect your position a little more dramatically.
Premier League: Manchester City focused on Villa, not Bayern, says Manuel Pellegrini..
Manuel Pellegrini insists Manchester City will not be distracted by Champions League duties as they seek a first victory on the road in the Premier League this season.
Pellegrini's side host European champions Bayern Munich on Wednesday but first face Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday.
City attracted some criticism after labouring to a goalless draw at Stoke a fortnight ago, three days before their last outing in Europe, but the City boss insists his quest for top spot takes priority for now.
"I am sure nobody is thinking about Bayern Munich," Pellegrini said. "We are all thinking about Aston Villa.
"We know it is a strong team playing at home. We need to play a very good game if we want to win and we need to win away now.
Mourinho battle is secondary, says AVB.
Villas-Boas and Mourinho will be in opposing dugouts for the first time on Saturday when Chelsea visit White Hart Lane in the Barclays Premier League.
For seven years Villas-Boas worked as a scout for Mourinho at Porto, Chelsea and Inter Milan, but the pair split in 2009 and they have barely spoken since.
Villas-Boas wanted to become Mourinho's assistant at Inter, but the 50-year-old rejected the idea, leaving his protege to pursue his own career in management that has so far seen him take the reins at Academica de Coimbra, Porto, Chelsea and Tottenham.
The frosty relationship between two of the most highly-rated minds in management has been a source of debate for many years, but Villas-Boas thinks any personal battles will take a back seat on Saturday.
When asked how much his broken relationship with Mourinho mattered to the game, Villas-Boas said: "In my opinion not a lot.
"In the end we try to serve the players as much as we can.
"The game is theirs and the history of both clubs completely surpasses our achievements.
Lionel Messi appears in Spanish court over tax fraud.
Barcelona footballer Lionel Messi has appeared before a Spanish judge as part of a tax fraud investigation.
The 26-year-old Argentine, four times Fifa World Player of the Year, and his father Jorge Messi are accused of defrauding the authorities of more than 4m euros ($5.4m; £3.4m).
The two men were questioned separately at the court in Gava, near Barcelona.
Both father and son deny the allegations. The Messis' lawyer said he wanted to resolve the matter.
The footballer and his father are suspected of using companies abroad - in Belize and Uruguay - to sell the rights to use Lionel Messi's image, thereby circumventing tax obligations in Spain. The allegations date back to 2007-9.
The income related to Mr Messi's image rights included contracts with Banco Sabadell, Danone, Adidas, Pepsi-Cola, Proctor and Gamble, and the Kuwait Food Company.

Man United prepare surprise £25m bid for top Premier League midfielder.#MUFC
Man United prepare surprise £25m bid for top Premier League midfielder. #MUFC
Man United are reportedly preparing a January bid for Chelsea playmaker Juan Mata according to Sports Direct News.
The Spanish international has surprisingly found himself frozen out of the Blues first team set-up and could well be considering his options and a move to Old Trafford may be one the 25 year old is tempted by when the transfer window re-opens.
The former Valencia man has started just two of Chelsea’s opening five Premier League fixtures though did enjoy a run-out in the Capital One Cup earlier in the week and the talented creative midfielder is sure to be a player that is interesting a great many top sides given his current situation.
Man United boss David Moyes is apparently ‘desperate’ to bring midfielders that can offer him attacking verve and having failed with advances for both Thiago Alcantara and Cesc Fabregas the Scot has set his sights on the Stamford Bridge star.
Moyes is ready to launch a £25m bid for Mata though Jose Mourinho is unlikely to consider selling to a domestic rival regardless of the size of offer made.
Mata racked up 32 goals and a monumental 48 assists over the course of his first two seasons at Chelsea and Mourinho’s decision to use the player sparingly is one that has confused many of the Chelsea faithful of late.

AC Milan to face Celtic without El Shaarawy and Montolivo
The Serie A giants will have to make do without the services of their skipper and the young attacker due to physical problems, as well as Ignazio Abate and Mattia De Sciglio
AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri has received some disappointing news from the treatment table ahead of Wednesday's Champions League encounter against Celtic as Stephan El Shaarawy and Riccardo Montolivo have both been ruled out of the game due to injury.
The young attacker picked up a thigh problem ahead of this weekend's 2-2 Serie A draw against Torino, while his skipper sustained a similar injury during Saturday's match.
"Montolivo and El Shaarawy will not play on Wednesday," Allegri told reporters.
"We'll make do with who we have and we'll have fresh players ready to play what is a delicate and important game."
Milan will also be without the likes of Ignazio Abate and Mattia De Sciglio due to injury problems.

Neymar is the best player in the world, says El Shaarawy
The Italy international has taken the time to praise the Brazil star, while revealing that Kaka, Alessandro Del Piero and Francesco Totti were his idols as a boy
AC Milan attacker Stephan El Shaarawy has voiced his opinion that Brazil international Neymar is the best player in the world at the moment.
Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Franck Ribery are seen as the favourites to win this year's Fifa Ballon d'Or, but El Shaarawy believes Neymar is even better than the aforementioned trio.
"I'd say Neymar is the best player in the world at the moment," El Shaarawy told reporters.
"I played against him in Geneva with Italy back in March and he was simply incredible on the ball."
The young forward then went on to voice his admiration for Serie A greats such as Kaka - who recently completed his return to Milan after a four-year spell at Real Madrid - Alessandro Del Piero and Francesco Totti.
"I had a number of idols. It was great to see players such as Kaka and Del Piero week after week. Totti was another of my biggest idols. It's crazy to be playing against him now."
Mario Balotelli 'promises Real Madrid players can sleep with his girlfriend if they win Champions League clash'
Football bad boy Mario Balotelli might not be popular with girlfriend Fanny Neguesha today.
He reportedly said Real Madrid’s team could sleep with the Belgian model if they win their Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund.
The former Manchester City striker is apparently so confident Dortmund will qualify after winning the first leg 4-1.
In the Spanish newspapers AS and Marca, the Italy forward was quoted as saying: ‘If Real Madrid come back in Champions League, I’ll let my girlfriend sleep with them!’
Dortmund ran Real off the park a week ago in Germany with Manchester United and Bayern Munich target Lewandowski getting all four goals.
They face each other again at the Bernabéu stadium tomorrow night Balotelli, 22, has previously spoken about his blossoming relationship with Neguesha.
In an exclusive interview with Vanity Fair, the striker said his girlfriend was the ‘first woman I feel comfortable with’.
Balotelli has credited WAG Fanny Neguesha with his impressive start to his AC Milan career.
And the 22-year-old model has made her mark with a new tattoo displaying her love for the Italian striker.
Neguesha had a message engraved on her inner arm at the famed Spektrum Tattoo in Milan.
