Allegri defends AC Milan and Juventus against criticism
AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri believes that the negativity directed towards both his side and Juventus so far this season has been unfair.
The sides meet in Turin on Sunday with the Rossoneri having had a sluggish start to their league campaign while the Bianconeri are winless after two Champions League games.
He said before the game: “Antonio Conte is a great coach and has been the most successful in Italy in the past two years and despite the criticism Juventus are favourites for the title and were good against Galatasaray apart from the two goals conceded due to [Leo] Bonucci errors and at times results change people’s opinions on the performance.”
The former Cagliari coach then defended both sides against the critics and believes his side were unlucky not to win away to Ajax in their own Champions League game in midweek.
“There has been unfair criticism of Juventus and AC Milan this season,” said Allegri. “Galatasaray had one and a half shots on the target while Ajax have historically always caused problems for Milan.
“On Tuesday I was very happy with the performance as we were organised and did not risk too much. We deserved to take the lead in the second half.”
The Rossoneri are still without Mario Balotelli, Stephan El Shaarawy, Valter Birsa, Kaka, Giampaolo Pazzini, Daniele Bonera, Mattia De Sciglio and Matias Silvestre for the trip and Allegri also confirmed that Alessandro Matri and Robinho will start in attack.
