Mario Balotelli’s estranged girlfriend/mother-of-his-child, Rafaella Fico, gave birth to his daughter last Thursday afternoon in Naples. The player did not attend the birth and following the Manchester derby at the weekend, is not expected to visit the child until later this week. Both the mother and child, who weighed 3’8 kilos, are in perfect condition and according to Spanish reports, Balotelli reportedly made a phone call to enquire about the birth (At the very least, Mario, go visit the child! Oh mio dio…) The little girl will be named Pia in honour of Padre Pio, one of the most revered Saints in Italy and the one Rafaella is most devoted to. Since she became pregnant and embroiled in a crisis with Balotelli, Raffaella has been spotted several times praying to the Saint at a sacred tomb in Naples. The model has also registered their daughter with her own surname – Fico – and not that of her father (although Pia Fico Balotelli would be a mouthful!)
